Main distinguishing features: 5a1: Half-fleur crown end ornaments, 5a2: X type 2, 5a3: X type 4, 5a4: jewelled crown.

5a1 was issued only from London, which also issued 5a2 and 5a3 pennies. The only class 5a coins from Durham are of type 5a3, Canterbury issued 5a2, 5a3 and the very rare 5a4, and Bury issued 5a2 and 5a3.
