Provenance: M Vosper, January 2004 ~ Found at Dersingham (Norfolk), 2003 One of at least two-dozen recorded examples of Dorestat-signature Tremisses, of the moneyer Madelinus who is known to have also operated at Maastricht. This specimen depicting a pellet adjoining the top of the cross subsequently forms the prototype for Pseudo-Madelinus silver issues that are designated as 'Series MA' in Sceatta typologies. |
