ABC 767 -
An Iron Age early uninscribed quarter stater of the Belgae, Rudd's 'Hampshire Thunderbolt' type (ABC 767), dating to c.65-40 BC. Reference: ABC p.58, no.767, VA 143, BMC 129-36. Obverse description: Stylised boat with two standing figures. Reverse description: Cruciform thunderbolt motif with various objects in the angles: 1) Solid L with denticulated outside edge; 2) diagonal rib in parallel to crescent rib; 3) two solid triangles, apex to apex, with denticulated opposite edges; 4) pointed oval rib enclosing smaller. A metal detector find from Ashmansworth, Hants.
