Provenance: North Yorkshire Moors Collection of Marvin Lessen, ex G.M. Cope Collection; bt L. Groskopf [Stouffville, Ontario] June 1991.  The G-marked shilling dies were originally prepared at the Tower for use in a proposed coinage at York, to be overseen by the under-treasurer in that city, George Gale, which was evidently abandoned
