At the May meeting of the Society Dr Mark Blackburn, President 2004-8, was presented with the John Sanford Saltus Gold Medal for his contributions to British numismatics. Mark's interests have focused on the early medieval coinages of the British Isles (c. 400-1200), on which he has been a leading authority since the 1970s.
